According to UN Recommendations, § 4.1.1.17, there is no change in use of the salvage drum, it still meets Group 1 packaging standards and salvage drum regulations, and there is no influence on quality, chemical compatibility or any other feature of this salvage drum.
UN RECOMMENDATIONS AND QUALIFICATION OF POLY OVERPACK 95
4.1.1.17 Use of salvage packaging’s
- 4.1.1.17.1 Damaged, defective, leaking or non-conforming packages, or dangerous goods that have spilled or leaked may be transported in salvage packaging’s mentioned in 6.1.5.1.11. This does not prevent the use of a bigger size packaging of appropriate type and performance level under the conditions of 4.1.1.17.2.
- 4.1.1.17.2 Appropriate measures shall be taken to prevent excessive movement of the damaged or leaking packages within a salvage packaging. When the salvage packaging contains liquids, sufficient inert absorbent material shall be added to eliminate the presence of free liquid.
- 4.1.1.17.3 Appropriate measures shall be taken to ensure that there is no dangerous build up of pressure.
